Goat Yoga and the benefits you won’t forget, by Lisa Stevenson

What floats your Goat?

Looking out at a group of people laughing hysterically and squealing with delight whilst trying to follow my yoga session is in itself quite comical. Goat Yoga came about for me back in the States, Massachusettes to be exact. Living in America, goat yoga was nothing too unusual! I was on my yoga journey, learning all I could during a life change of divorce. Goat yoga was advertised in my local yoga studio, I was intrigued and so were my daughters.

This yoga with goats was located on a farm not far from home. So we got up early and off we went. What a great morning of pure fun with my girls. What's not to like? Cute goats who are just naturally happy animals with a pleasant yoga teacher who guided us through a fun flow that the goats seem to also enjoy and the treats went down well that we threw on our mat. Both goats and yogi's having a fun morning. We all left still giggling retelling the story of our goat yoga morning to more giggles and laughter.

I moved back to the UK, opened a yoga studio, and had this urge to find a goat farm to start goat yoga.

Bringing happiness to all who want to try it. Today so many people are looking for something to make them smile, de-stress and find good energy.

I reached out and met a couple with a goat farm who saw my vision and went with it. They love goats more than anyone and see it as a play date for their precious goats. Amazing!

When you feel the benefits you will want to come back.

Just petting animals can release a relaxation response; Humans interacting with animals have found that petting the animal promoted the release of serotonin, prolactin, and oxytocin- all hormones that can play a part in elevating mood. *
