Welcome to our Events and Campaigns Hub! A great place to EXPLORE a range of wellbeing topics with other, like minded professional and volunteers.
Events take the form of in person, online only or exciting new hybrid events where we offer limited in person spaces and many more places to attend using Microsoft Teams.

We also offer a range of funded wellbeing activities for our members to sample to get out of their comfort zone, EXPLORE their own wellbeing and embark on their own relaxation and personal growth journeys.
If you have any events you would like to collaborate with us on, get in touch using our content submission form on our ‘Share your content’ page. We look forward to seeing how we can work together.

Living Well with Mindfulness and Mindfulness Meditation with Laura Ashurst
This two-hour workshop is an opportunity for Laura to share some of the underlying principles of mindfulness and mindfulness meditation, providing tips and strategies that will help to weave mindfulness and breathing practices into your day. Based on the ethos that we are all more alike than we are unalike in the way that we function as human beings, Laura's workshop has a strong emphasis on self-kindness and self-compassion - skills that help us to live well in a hectic world.
The meditation aspect of the workshop will be chair-based so perhaps bring along a blanket for your comfort and wellbeing to wrap around your shoulders during the seated practice. Comfort is key!
Laura Ashurst has lived with secondary breast, the incurable form of the disease for 16 years. She was first diagnosed with primary breast cancer in 2001 when her son Jack was 6 months old and her daughter Megan was three. She underwent a lumpectomy and 25 sessions of radiotherapy. Three years later another separate tumour grew in the same breast and Laura then had a mastectomy and a breast reconstruction. She received the devastating news that her cancer had spread to her lungs in December 2007 and has been receiving cancer treatment since then. Despite the odds, Laura is currently stable and doing well.
Her experiences as a cancer patient led her to cancer campaigning. She is an ambassador for Richmond (Yorks) for Cancer Research UK in the Cancer Campaigns team, the political lobbying wing of CRUK. She is an active metastatic breast cancer campaigner for several charities and is the Patron of the Trinity Holistic Centre at The James Cook University Hospital. Laura was awarded a Prime Minister's Points of Light Award in November 2022 for her services to campaigning for secondary breast cancer.
Laura is hugely passionate about promoting mental health awareness. She experienced a severe mental health decline when she was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer and this led to her introduction to mindfulness meditation. She now teaches meditation and mindfulness as part of her Living With Hope business.
Her workshop will address the essential need for mental health support for all and how mindfulness and meditation can play an integral role in supporting our wellbeing.
Laura is thrilled to have been invited to be our speaker.

Are you interested in finding out more about the development of Men’s Pie Club (MPC) in the South Tees area and the possibility of becoming an MPC Hub Partner? If so, please read below and click to register for the webinar.
WHAT IS MEN’S PIE CLUB?
Men’s Pie Club uses food as a vehicle to create social clubs that support men at risk of poor mental health because of poor quality social connections or loneliness. Our approach works to reduce risk factors associated with social isolation, such as depression, anxiety and suicide.
“We have an ambitious plan to replicate and scale Men’s Pie Club into the South Tees area.” Jamie Sadler, Food Nation and Mens Pie Club
WHO IS THE WEBINAR FOR?
We are keen to form a partnership with one like-minded community-based organisation with the values, relevant experience and qualities needed to become an MPC Hub. The new MPC Hub will be responsible for the development and coordination of 10 pie clubs in the South Tees area. A Start-up Fund will be made available to cover a significant proportion of the costs associated with this work.
WHAT WILL THE WEBINAR COVER?
Everything organisations need to know to become a MPC Hub Partner.

Journals Programme Workshop 1 of 3
The Wellbeing Network would like to offer you the chance to attend a series of three workshops, receiving detailed guidance and support with a free journal and extra digital downloads to support journaling within your own work, and for your own clients/service users.
We have partnered with local professionals Joe Hilton and Nathan Marr to develop our own journal bespoke for you, our members of the Wellbeing Network, who will be running the workshops and will demonstrate how to get the best out of your journal and the specially selected wellbeing approaches it will engage you into.
Journaling can be a great way of expressing and recording your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement. If you struggle with stress, depression, or anxiety, keeping a journal can be a great idea. It can help you gain control of your emotions and improve your mental health.
Attendance can be done either in-person or online, click the button below for signups.

Thanks for completing our 2023 members survey
We consulted with members about wants and needs for next year in terms of the wellbeing issues to Connect, Explore and Act together on. Nearly 100 members completed our survey and the results are below.
The top six topics are:
53% - Wellbeing alternatives to clinical mental health support (de-medicalisation of mental health)
46% - Loneliness and social isolation - the differences, the issues and what to do?
42% - Building communities' - Developing a sense of belonging
40% - Suicide Prevention
40% - Workplace Health Wellbeing - Good work is good for you. How to do it.
38% - Peer Support and Lived experience - What we know, how it's being used and how you can too
We aim to repeat this survey process towards the end of each year and if you'd like to organise additional events through the network for those topics that didn’t make the top 6, we can help you promote that event, just e-mail us at info@teeswellbeingnetwork.org.
